Privacy Policy

This policy describes what Freely actually does today, not an idealised version of it. Freely is a job-research tool: you send it a job, it investigates, and it keeps what it needs to show you the result again later.

Information you give us

• Account details. Your email address if you sign up with email and password, your Google account email and name if you sign in with Google, or your phone number if you sign in with a one-time SMS code. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider; Freely never sees them.
• Your profile. Name, discipline, skills, years of experience, experience level, currency, minimum and target rates, desired salary or hourly pay, work types, job functions, target roles, industries, preferred locations, work arrangement, openness to relocation, what you said matters most to you, weekly hours and your primary goal.
• CV information. If you upload a CV, Freely stores the text extracted from it plus the summary, domains, project types and seniority you confirm, and the file name. The file itself is not kept — see below.
• Jobs you check. The text, link or screenshot content you submit, and the analysis Freely produces from it: title, employer, location, pay figures, the evidence gathered, company research, the rating and confidence, and any decision you record.
• Jobs you save and outcomes you log. Saved and tracked listings, feedback you give on suggested jobs, and outcomes you record (status, agreed rate, hours, notes, follow-up dates).
• Messages you send us. Anything in an email to our support or privacy address.

Information collected automatically

Freely does not run advertising trackers, marketing pixels, or third-party analytics on the site. What does happen automatically:

• Sign-in session. Your session is stored in your browser so you stay logged in. It's required for the app to work and can be cleared by signing out.
• Local settings. Your job filters and the most recent check result are stored in your own browser so pages don't reload data unnecessarily. They never leave your device unless you save something to your account.
• Server and infrastructure logs. Our hosting, database and authentication providers record standard technical information such as IP address, browser and device details, timestamps and error diagnostics, for security, abuse prevention and debugging.

How Freely uses it

• Running the service and keeping you signed in.
• Carrying out the job checks you request, including finding and cross-checking listings and researching employers.
• Personalising the jobs Freely surfaces and how it ranks them, using your profile and preferences.
• Saving your results, pipeline and outcomes so they're there when you come back.
• Producing anonymised, aggregated rate benchmarks from recorded outcomes — never attributed to you or an individual gig.
• Diagnosing failures, improving reliability, and detecting abuse or security problems.
• Answering your support and privacy requests.

Freely does not sell your personal information and does not share your profile with employers, recruiters or job platforms. Freely does, however, rely on service providers to operate — that isn't the same thing, and the next section names them.

AI, search and other service providers

Parts of a check happen outside Freely's own systems. When you submit a job, the content you provide and information derived from it may be sent to providers that perform:

• AI processing — an AI gateway operated by our platform provider, which routes requests to third-party models (currently Google Gemini models) to read screenshots, extract fields from listings and CVs, and write the analysis.
• Public web search — one or more search providers (Serper, Brave Search, Google Programmable Search or Tavily, depending on configuration) used to find the original listing and public information about the employer. Search queries include the job title, employer name and similar identifying details.
• Public web and job-board retrieval — Freely fetches pages directly from employer sites and applicant tracking systems (including Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters and Recruitee), and uses job data APIs (Adzuna and JSearch via RapidAPI) plus Freelancer.com and Reddit for listing data. These receive the request, not your profile.
• Hosting, database, storage and authentication — provided by Lovable Cloud, built on Supabase, which stores your account and all saved data.
• Currency rates — a public exchange-rate API, which receives no personal data.

These providers process data to deliver the service. We have not independently verified each provider's model-training practices, so this policy makes no promise on that point beyond what those providers publish themselves.

Screenshots and uploaded files

Uploaded screenshots are held in memory for the length of the request, sent to the AI provider so the employer, role and any visible link can be read, and then discarded. Freely does not write image files to storage and keeps no copy of them. What is saved to your account is the text and fields extracted from the image and the resulting analysis.

CV files work the same way: the PDF or DOCX is sent once for text extraction and is not retained as a file. The extracted text and confirmed fields are saved to your profile until you delete them.

Your profile and personalisation

Your preferences, rates and CV information are used to filter and rank jobs in Find Jobs, and to judge how a checked job compares with what you said you want. Nothing about your profile is sent to employers, and no job you check is shared with anyone.

How long we keep things

Freely keeps your account information, profile, CV data, checks, saved jobs and outcomes for as long as your account exists. There is no automatic expiry — data stays until you delete it, either by removing the individual item, deleting your CV data, or deleting your account. Anonymised aggregate benchmark figures, which cannot be linked back to you, may remain after deletion. Service providers keep their own technical logs under their own retention schedules.

Deleting your data

• CV data: press Delete my resume on the Profile page.
• Your whole account: press Delete my account at the bottom of the Profile page. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, CV data, checks, saved and tracked jobs, feedback, recorded outcomes and your sign-in. It cannot be undone.
• You can also email hello@freelygigs.com and we'll do it for you.

Your choices

You can view and edit everything Freely holds about you from the Profile page, correct anything that's wrong, delete individual results or your entire account, and email us with any privacy question. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your data, including access, correction, deletion, portability and objecting to certain processing; email us and we'll handle the request.

Security

Freely uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections, managed authentication and database access rules that restrict your data to your own account. No online service can promise perfect security, and we don't.

Age

Freely is intended for people aged 16 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16; if you believe a child has an account, email us and we'll remove it.

Payments

Freely does not currently process payments and collects no payment information. If paid features are introduced, payment details will be handled by a third-party payment processor, Freely will not store full card numbers, and this policy will be updated before that goes live.
